We’ve been making great strides here at Awesomic. The kind of strides that have resulted in a prestigious Red Dot Award!

For those not aware, the Red Dot award is like the Oscars for the design community. In other words, it’s a really big deal!

The Red Dot annual international design competition selects winners in the areas of product design, communication design, and design concepts. Tech giants like Apple, Google and Sony — each received a Red Dot award in the past.

Which means by winning this award, we’ve joined incredible company!

Our award winning designer Yulia Kuznetsova

The winning design in the Brands & Communication Design category was created by seasoned Awesomic designer Yulia Kuznetsova, who has been with our company for about a year and a half.

Yulia - Red Dor wining designer

Well known in the Awesomic design community, Yulia is a top illustrator and winner of the Awesomic Design of the Season award.

Our Red Dot submission was prepared with the contribution of Awesomic’s motion designer Ilya Stashchenko.

The League of Information Warriors

Through The League of Information Warriors campaign, Awesomic sought to encourage people to fight against disinformation and engage in the information war against Russia.

We understand how important the role of language and culture are in this war. And our entry in the competition was our way of acknowledging that, while honoring famous Ukrainian writers and philosophers.

To popularize the campaign, Yulia depicted famous Ukrainian writers and philosophers as warriors, defending their land with modern weapons in their hands.

Information Warriors

The visuals for the campaign included imagery of poet and journalist, USSR prisoner of conscience Vasyl Stus with a Javelin on his shoulder, literary critic, philosopher and feminist, Ukrainian Socrates Hryhoriy Skovoroda with a mortar, Ukrainian poet and artist Taras Shevchenko — also known as Kobzar — with a sniper rifle and others.

What the Red Dot award means to us

It’s truly a great honor to be recognized by Red Dot.

But more than that, this campaign holds a lot of significance for us here at Awesomic.

As a US remote-first company with strong Ukrainian roots, we’ve seen firsthand the devastation of this war. We’ve seen the impact on our community, our families, our friends, and our nation as a whole.

So this win is more than just symbolic. For us, it’s personal.

Awesomics together in Kyiv in 2021

As the fight for freedom continues, the role of language and culture cannot be underestimated. And we are proud to have celebrated the work of Ukrainian creatives who are constantly playing their part to fight injustice while keeping hope alive in our great nation.

This direct quote from Yulia says it best.

“Ukrainians have everything to impress the world with their creativity, and we are successfully doing that. Perhaps, it’s because Ukrainians have been fighting for freedom for centuries. Artists in Ukraine go through strong emotions and live in a challenging environment, and it pushes them to create something meaningful. My work was created during Russia’s full-scale invasion, during the genocide of my nation—maybe, that’s what makes it so special”.
